Dr. Vera was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. He attended the University of Virginia and then completed his dental degree with a military scholarship at New York University College of Dentistry. Upon graduation, Dr. Vera completed a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. He then served as the Brigade Dentist for the 2/25th Stryker Brigade Combat Team (Schofield Barracks, HI) and was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.
Dr. Vera completed his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. His time in Dallas included extensive training with special needs and medically compromised children at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and Children’s Medical Center Dallas. During his military service, he served as the Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at Fort Bragg, NC., and Assistant Professor of Pediatric Dentistry (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences/Army Postgraduate School) for four years before transitioning out of the military. Dr. Vera has provided dental care on international humanitarian trips, including volunteer missions to Nicaragua, Honduras, and Jamaica.
Dr. Vera is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also an active member of the Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry and Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
When not having fun treating patients, Dr. Vera enjoys spending quality time with his beautiful wife, twin boys, and adorable daughter!
